Parent Update – January 2023

A young girl can be seen smiling whilst looking down at her desk to write something in her exercise book.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We all hope that you had a fantastic Christmas break and wish you all a Happy New Year! You should have already received the overview for important term date events for this term and we hope that you find it useful receiving these well in advance and at the beginning of each term.

We will further write to you with any invites and updates a few weeks before each event and will put reminders on our Facebook page. We know that you have enjoyed being able to come in to observe Maths lessons and learn how we teach Maths here at Peninsula East, alongside learning with your child. You will be pleased to know that we are continuing to offer this with our KS2 children for this term. We also work alongside the Medway Maths Hub who have provided us with resources for parents in Reception and KS1 so we are planning to share these with parents next term and will write to you with more information about this closer to the time.

Please see the KS2 maths dates to come into a maths lesson for this term below;

  • Year 3, both classes – Friday 13th January at 9:15am
  • Year 4 – Friday 27th January at 9:15am
  • Year 5 – Friday 27th January at 9:15am
  • Year 6 – Tuesday 24th January at 9:15am

Miss Theobald is also holding an information session for Year 4 parents around the multiplication check that they have to take this year as part of one of the government’s statutory assessments. This will take place in the hall at 2:30pm on Thursday 19th January. If you are unable to attend this but would like more information, please do let the school office know and Miss Theobald will arrange for something to be sent out to you.

We have also welcomed Mr Dyson, who joined us just before Christmas as part of his transition, teaching the Year 5 class. We thought we’d offer an opportunity for parents to meet Mr Dyson in a coffee afternoon early this term and this is on Friday 13th January at 2:30pm in the school hall. Mr Dyson looks forward to meeting those parents who are able to attend.

I would also like to remind you that we have another staff development day on Friday 10th February and so the children’s last day for this term will be Thursday 9th February.

We look forward to welcoming you into school for all of our events and to share the children’s learning with you.

Kind Regards,

Mrs L Rimmer
Principal
