Parent Update – February 2022

Peninsula East Primary Academy logo

Dear Parents/Carers,

It has been great to see all of the children back after half term and that our attendance is starting to return to normal. I am so pleased that due to the latest government guidelines, we will be able to hold more parental events for you over the course of this term and share with you all of the wonderful learning that the children are involved in at Peninsula East Primary Academy. I am very proud of our school community and we receive so many positive comments about our children, particularly about how polite and principled they are from any visitors that we have had as well as how inviting the school is and how great the school environment looks. I would also like to say a huge thank you to our staff team who work tirelessly to ensure that our children have the best possible experience that they can have in their time here.

You recently received a letter from Mr Beamish detailing the latest government updates around COVID and so I thought it best to just summarise the key details.

  • Whilst the legal duty to self-isolate is coming to an end, government advice remains that people who test positive should stay at home and avoid contact with other people for at least five days.
  • Those who are close contacts of a person who tests positive for COVID are no longer required to test each day for seven days. The legal requirement for those who are not fully vaccinated to self-isolate in the event of being a close contact will also end on Friday.
  • From Friday 25th February, the requirement for staff and pupils to test twice weekly for COVID no longer applies in mainstream settings.

We have appreciated all of your support through the most challenging times that we experienced with COVID and are looking forward to more positive times ahead.

Please see some key dates for you below for Term 4;

As always, we will send out more detailed information about events to you directly. We are also hoping to move over to an app system called, My Child At School, for us to use for communication with you very soon and more information will also follow about this. For the moment, please continue to check your emails through our system of communication and also please check the newsletters that are available weekly on our school website.

I would also like to take the opportunity to introduce you to Miss Hosegood, who is an apprentice in our office working alongside Mrs Fenner and Mrs Dyke. I am sure that by now you may have met her and she is doing a fantastic job but please also be aware that Miss Hosegood is still training but she will do her utmost to assist you where possible.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank parents for their responses to the Trust survey links that went out. It is really useful to receive your feedback and we were particularly pleased as a team that it was very positive. I will give you an overview of our results below as well as what we are doing in response to the areas that you feel we need to improve on.

Next steps from survey;

You would like more information about the PYP. We will look at how we can further support you all to understand how we teach our curriculum here at PEPA. Please also remember that Miss Theobald has been offering parent workshops around the PYP (there have been 2 so far this year), you’ve also had the PYP showcases in term 1 and there is more information on this link https://sites.google.com/pepa.org.uk/curriculum-information-for-par/pyp
You would also like to know more about the impact of the Chromebooks in KS2. We are planning an event linked to this which you will be invited to in Term 5 or 6 so we hope that this will help you further.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your ongoing support and I look forward to seeing you all at the events mentioned above this term. Please keep a look out for the letters that will be sent out with more information in the coming weeks.

Kind Regards,

Mrs L Rimmer
Principal
