Back to School Letter for Parents

Peninsula East Primary Academy logo

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to another busy term and we all hope that you and the children had a restful break. There will be lots of activities to share with you this term as we lead up to Christmas so please do watch out for letters as I will be putting these out in the coming weeks so that you have plenty of notice.

Firstly, I wanted to celebrate some amazing news with you. In the last week of last term, we had a virtual authorisation visit from the International Baccalaureate as we follow the PYP/IB as our whole school ethos and framework for the National Curriculum. As part of this and to show that it is embedded in the school and in teaching and learning and that we have met all of the criteria, we have to go through an authorisation process. After a busy two days, we are really pleased to announce that we met and exceeded some of the criteria required, with 12 commendations and we are now an official IB World School. This is an amazing achievement and really does put our fantastic village school on the world map. I would like to say a huge thank you to the whole staff team and to the children as they really shone in the visit. I would also like to thank Mrs Penning and Miss Theobald who did an immense amount of work to prepare for the visit.

This term I am running a series of tours for prospective EYFS parents and children who would like to attend PEPA from September 2022. Please see the following dates and times of the tours below;

Tuesday 16 November
11:45am

Tuesday 23 November
1:45pm

Thursday 25 November
9:15am

Please pass on to other friends, neighbours or relatives that may live close by and if you contact the office then they will record a space to attend.

Just a reminder that the parents of year 6 children only, have been invited to attend their class assembly next Wednesday 17th at 2.30pm in the school hall.

The winning classes for last term’s attendance were Greta Thunberg and Marcus Rashford classes so a huge well done to them! For their reward, they will get a bingo treat session with myself to celebrate.

In my previous correspondence I mentioned that we have our virtual parent evenings next week, Tuesday 16th November 3.30 – 6pm and Thursday 18th November 4 – 6.30pm. To book a ten minute slot with your child’s class teacher, please follow the link https://pepa.schoolcloud.co.uk Please remember that if your child is in Beatrix Potter class, then you will need to book an appointment with your assigned teacher that you met with at the beginning of the year, either Mrs Elsworth or Mrs Elliott. However, Mrs Elsworth is only available on Tuesday 16th November. If you are unable to book a time for this date then please contact the office to make a different appointment time with Mrs Elsworth. Please also remember that we will not be offering appointments for nursery children at this point in the year. I will send out further information about logging onto the meeting through School Cloud nearer the time. If you have any difficulties accessing or booking slots, please contact the school office as they will be able to book a time in manually for you if needed. If you would like to meet with Mrs Drogomirecki around SEND on either evening then please do contact the office so that Mrs Drogomirecki can organise either a Google meet or a telephone call.

I also just wanted to remind you about the individual pupil photographs that will be taken this week on Friday and these will also include siblings. Year 5 will have their PE slot on Thursday instead of Friday this week. Please ensure that the children are in full uniform and are looking smart for their photographs. Due to the photographs, we are celebrating Children in Need on Monday 15th November so the children can come into school wearing yellow or spots with their Pudsey ears or costumes. Please kindly send a £1 donation with your child so that we can send it to this great cause. You can find out more information on their website https://www.bbcchildreninneed.co.uk/

We look forward to meeting you next week and updating you on your child’s progress and attainment so far this academic year.

Kind Regards,

Mrs L Rimmer

Principal
