PYP Showcase, EYFS Stay and Play Sessions

Dear parents and carers,

As we near the end of term, we thought it would be great to be able to offer some more open events so that we can celebrate the children’s work that they have produced over the course of the term. We also thought it would be great that parents could come in and interact with our Year R learning environment.

We would like to welcome you to a PYP showcase for Year 1 and Year 2 on Tuesday 19th October 2021 at 2.30pm and a KS2 PYP showcase on Wednesday 20th October 2021 at 2.30pm. This is an opportunity  for the children to share with you their learning across the curriculum but showcasing work in particular linked to their inquiry in their PYP books and may also include any artwork or possible display work. As a school, on those days, we will be going through an authorisation process with the IB so that we can become a World School and will keep you updated of the outcome.

In particular it would be a good time to ask them about their reflection tickets, the IB learner attributes, the skills they have learnt, agency and what action they want to participate in at the end of the term. Younger siblings can be brought along but any buggies or prams would need to be left outside of classrooms and we would only be able to limit this to two adults per child to allow space in our classrooms. If you have children in different classes who have their open day on the same day, you can move within classes.

We would also like to invite our Beatrix Potter parents to attend on either Tuesday 19th or Wednesday 20th for a stay and play session from 1.30pm – 2.30pm. Due to numbers, I’m afraid that younger siblings would not be able to attend this and we would also only limit this to 2 adults per child. We would ask that for the EYFS open session only that you please notify the office if you are going to attend on a first come first served basis so we are aware of numbers. Please bear in mind that we may not be able to facialite you if a particular afternoon fills up but will look to put on an additional event if needed.

To further support parents around understanding the PYP, Miss Theobald is also offering a session around our curriculum in the hall at 2.15pm on Monday 18th October 2021. Please contact the office to indicate if you are going to attend so Miss Theoblad has an idea of numbers.

We are glad that we have been able to offer lots of open events across the course of this term and it would be really beneficial if you were able to leave us some feedback. Please complete the Parental Feedback for Open Events at PEPA.

Please also remember that we update our newsletter weekly and try to have this available by the end of the week each week.

We look forward to welcoming you back into school next week and are very proud of all that the children have achieved this term.

Kind regards,

Mrs L Rimmer
